Hadley Fraser, Ross Noble and Lesley Joseph are set to star in a new adaptation of Mel Brooks’ musical comedy Young Frankenstein.
The production, which first premiered in Seattle in 2007, will open at Theatre Royal Newcastle on 26 August before moving to the West End’s Garrick Theatre on 28 September.
Based on the 1974 film starring Gene Wilder, Young Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein’s grandson Frederick Frankenstein – a man struggling to come to terms with the legacy of his infamous relative. Fraser plays the title role, with Noble as Igor and Joseph as Frau Blucher.
The company includes Imogen Brooke, Matt Crandon, Nathan Elwick, Kelly Ewins-Prouse, Andrew Gordon-Watkins, Sammy Kelly, Richard Pitt, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Gemma Scholes, Emily Squibb, Aron Wild and Josh Wilmott.
Young Frankenstein is produced by Mel Brooks, Michael Harrison and Fiery Angel, with director and choreographer Susan Stroman – who worked on the original US version – leading the creative team.
