Cinderella Games – a film inspired by Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella – will have its online premiere tonight (14 July). It is the third instalment in English National Ballet’s (ENB) recent film series.
Directed and choreographed by Jessica Wright and Morgann Runacre-Temple, Cinderella Games will make its bow at 7pm (GMT+1) on ENB’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
A Q&A session with Wright and Morgann Runacre-Temple (known collectively as Jess and Morgs) follows the premiere.
Royal Albert Hall and Kempton Steam Museum provide the backdrop for Cinderella Games, which includes 35 non-professional dancers alongside ENB’s Chihiro Kawasaki and Matthew Hawkins.
Wheeldon’s Cinderella debuted back in 2012 in Amsterdam. A co-commission by San Francisco Ballet and Dutch National Ballet, it features an alternative ending where Cinderella is never found.
The film will screen at film festivals across Europe – COVID-19 permitting – later this summer.
