Warm reception for London Jazz Festival

The EFG London Jazz Festival drew to a close this weekend following a successful programme of performances, talks and films.

Highlights of this year’s festival included a sold-out performance of jazz-funk fusion from Medeski, Martin & Wood at Ronnie Scott’s; ‘Jazz Voice’, the opening festival gala featuring Jane Monheit, Liam Bailey and Omar, accompanied by a 40-piece orchestra; and Joe Stilgoe’s tribute to Hollywood with a performance inspired by classic movie soundtracks.

Leading figures from world music also featured on the line-up, including Persian classical musicians Hossein Alizadeh and Pejman Hadadi, and Norwegian folk artist Annbjørg Lien.
