Universal launch Decca Publishing

Universal Music Group (UMG) has launched a new publishing division, with the goal of getting work by contemporary classical composers included in television shows, films and computer games.

Natasha Baldwin will lead the new company, Decca Publishing, leaving her role as group president of creative and marketing at Imagem Music. She previously worked for the publishing division of Boosey & Hawkes.

Decca Publishing will allow artists to synchronise their recording and publishing efforts. It is the second such initiative UMG has launched recently, following on from Score, which offers label services project for filmmakers and composers.

‘We’ve reached a moment where the democratisation of music discovery via streaming is giving developing genres a voice like never before,’ commented Baldwin. ‘Through Decca Publishing my goal will be to amplify this offering and further broaden the impact of neo-classical music worldwide.’
