UK arts councils appoint Attitude is Everything to develop accessibility standards for “All In” scheme
The UK’s four national arts councils have announced that Attitude is Everything, a disability-led charity, will develop accessibility standards for the new “All In” access scheme. This initiative aims to improve access to creative and cultural events for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people across the UK.
Attitude is Everything will create sector-wide standards for venues and organisations participating in the “All In” scheme, focusing on improving physical accessibility, digital communication, customer service and inclusive programming. These standards will complement existing best practices and the charity’s own UK government endorsed Live Events Access Charter.
Set to pilot this autumn, with a national roll-out in 2025, “All In” builds on the success of Hynt, Wales’ access scheme for theatres and arts centres. The project is supported by the arts councils of England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, with UK Arts Access Champion Andrew Miller MBE calling it a potential “game changer” for disabled audiences and the cultural sector.
Celia Makin-Bell, Managing Director of Attitude is Everything, expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasising its potential to create accessible experiences that disabled consumers can trust and enjoy without barriers.
