Tarisio Trust has announced its Young Artists Grants scheme is accepting applications for 2017. Grants of up to GBP25,000 (€29,000) are available for artists aged 18-30 who are looking to work on string-based musical projects.
Prospective applicants must devise a string-focused scheme that is both “is both creative in concept and artistically of the highest level.” The funding can be used for performance cycles, tours, festivals, recordings, video work as well as online platforms and content.
Applications are judged on “originality, innovation and artistic merit” as well as proposed project management and communication strategies. Work on the project must begin no later than December 2017, and successful applicants can make use of Tarisio’s instrument collection as well as its archives.
Since the first edition in 2015 Tarisio has awarded more than GBP40,000 for creative projects. Past winners include Arlen Hlusko, String Bank, Eric Silberger and Lauren Latessa
This year’s judges are Kim Kashkashian, Martin Engstroem and Quatuor Ebène. The application deadline is 10 May.
