One of the world’s biggest and most celebrated music and art festivals, Sziget, took home the award for ‘Line-Up of the Year’ at the European Festival Awards 2017 on 17 January for the second year running. The festival beat fellow globally renowned festivals Glastonbury, Roskilde and Lollapalooza to take the prestigious award.

Sziget is no stranger to winning, having twice been awarded Europe’s Best Festival, as well as an award for the Line-Up of the Year, the Artist’s Favourite European Festival, and a Lifetime Achievement Award in January 2017 that was dedicated to Sziget’s former co-worker, Dan Panaitescu, who passed away in a tragic car accident.
Accepting the award Tamás Kádár (CEO) said: “It was a great surprise to us to receive an award at this prestigious ceremony, and also a pleasure that Sziget’s unique musical diversity has been recognised again!”
Tipped as Hungary’s answer to Glastonbury, the seven-day music and arts experience festival attracts 450,000 visitors to Budapest’s Óbudai-sziget “Island of Freedom” every August.
The 2018 lineup will be revealed next week with tickets for one, three, five and seven day passes already on sale.
Sziget takes place 8-15 August 2018 Óbudai-sziget, Budapest, Hungary
