Stuart Hancock composes We’re Going on a Bear Hunt score

British composer Stuart Hancock has written an original score for new children’s film We’re Going On A Bear Hunt. The half-hour animated film is based on the much-loved children’s book written by Michael Rosen, and was commissioned by Channel 4 as part of its Christmas programming.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt follows the adventures of five children and their dog as they go in search of bears. The animation team previously worked on Channel 4’s The Snowman and The Snowdog.

Hancock, who is known for his work on shows like Atlantis and Crazyhead, commented: ‘I’ve loved helping tell its story and capturing all the new emotions that the animators have brought to it…I can’t wait for the world to see this at Christmas.’ Hancock previously won the Jerry Goldsmith Award for Best Composer in 2013 as well as a BASCA British Composer Award in 2015.

City of London Sinfonia, accompanied by the London Youth Choir, perform the score, while 23-year-old singer-songwriter George Ezra has written a theme song to accompany Hancock’s compositions. The music was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London.

The We’re Going On A Bear Hunt soundtrack will be available to buy from 23 December.
