The overall winner of the Singapore International Violin Competition 2015 (SIVC) has been chosen after this week’s hotly contested grand final performances.
Impressive Taiwanese artists scooped both first and second places, with the jury’s ultimate pick of the six finalists as follows:
First Prize: Tseng Yu-Chien (Taiwan, pictured above in competition)
Second Prize: Richard Lin (Taiwan)
Third Prize: Sirena Huang (USA)
Fourth Prize: Alexandra Conunova (Moldova)
Fifth Prize: Lim Hyun Jae (South Korea)
Sixth Prize: Fedor Rudin (France)
In addition to the USD50,000 (€43,450) first prize, a number of other titles were awarded at the close of yesterday’s grand final. These included:
Goh Soon Tioe Violin & Piano Recital: Richard Lin
Best Performer of Commissioned Work: Sirena Huang
Best Performer of Bach: Lim Hyun Jae
Best Performer of Paganini: Sirena Huang
Master Bow by Pierre Guillaume Best Singaporean Performer: Loh Jun Hong
