Twenty young European conductors have been shortlisted for the 2014 Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition.
The competition attracted a total of 225 applications from 25 countries. Round one will see the shortlisted candidates perform at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama on 6 December, after which 10 candidates will progress to round two.
Following the second round, just three candidates will make it through to the final on 8 December. The finalists will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra in a public concert at the Barbican, and will be judged by a panel including LSO chairman Lennox Mackenzie, conductor Daniel Harding, and LSO’s principal tuba Patrick Harrild.
The overall winner will receive GBP15,000 (€18,780), and will become assistant conductor with the LSO for a year.
