Shlomo Mintz announced as SIVC artist in residence 2018

World-renowned Israeli conductor and violist Shlomo Mintz has been announced as the distinguished artist for the 2018 Singapore International Violin Competition (SIVC). Mintz will perform, conduct and lead masterclasses at the competition, which takes place early next year.

The maestro will perform Ysayë’s Six Solo Sonatas for violin on 31 January 2018 at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, after which competition hopefuls then have the coveted opportunity to perform on stage with Mintz as he will conduct six finalists when they perform with the Conservatory Orchestra at Victoria Concert Hall on 5 and 6 February 2018.

Applications for SIVC are open until 30 September 2017 with the 30-strong shortlist announced on 16 October.

Tickets for the recital and the SIVC final live rounds, will go on sale from 2 November 2017 at SISTIC. The live final rounds of the competition will take place from 28 January to 8 February 2018 across Singapore’s concert halls.
