Scottish composers invited to join RSNO Competition

An exciting opportunity has been announced for young Scottish composers to try their hand at writing a two-minute piece, with the possibility of having their work recorded and performed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Notes From Scotland is the result of a partnership between RSNO and the National Trust for Scotland, and invites budding young composers aged 12-18 to write a piece of music that reflects the unique character of their National Trust region. One chosen entry from each of the five regions will go on to be performed at the grand final on 7 June at Perth Concert Hall.

Prior to the competition deadline, the RSNO is offering students the chance to sharpen their skills with expert input from composer Matilda Brown on 4 March, before submitting the finished works by 31 May. See rsno.org.uk for details.
