Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition returns in 2018

The fourth edition of Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition (SISC) will take place in Harbin, China, in the summer of 2018. The competition was founded to honour the renowned musicmakers and educators, sisters Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld, with the goal of promoting the world’s best young musicians.

A leading comprehensive competition in China and Asia, SISC aims to promote young and talented violinists, cellists and string chamber ensembles in the region.

Harbin Symphony Orchestra, competition orchestra of 2014 and 2016, will  perform with exciting young string musicians competing for top prizes at SISC 2018 at Harbin Concert Hall.

SISC takes place runs from 18 – 29 July 2018 and is organised in collaboration with Harbin Symphony Orchestra, Harbin Grand Theatre, and Conservatory of Music in Harbin, providing a wide-ranging performance platform for gifted young musicians. It is split into three categories: violin, cello and chamber ensemble.

Laureates include violinists Ji-won SongBomsori Kim, Jiyoon Lee, Andi Zhang and Yun Tang; cellists Christoph Croisé and Julian Schwarz; as well as ensembles Notos Quartet and Goldmund Quartet.

Winners work closely with members of the jury, which in previous editions was chaired by Christoph Poppen (2013), Lynn Harrell (2014, 2016), David Cerone (2014) and Shlomo Mintz (2016).
