Rosemary Squire OBE has become the first ever woman to win the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year award.
The co-founder and joint CEO of Britain’s Ambasador Theatre Group was named the UK Overall Winner at the UK finals of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014.
Squire also won the Entrepreneur award in the Private Equity-Backed category.
She collected both prizes at the UK Finals Awards Dinner held at The Brewery in London last night.

Squire said: ‘For our company and my contribution to be recognised by the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards is an enormous honour. For mine and [ATG co-founder] Howard’s hard work turning the Ambassador Theatre Group into a world leader in our sector to be acknowledged is enormously pleasing.’

She continued: ‘I have the support of a fantastic team at ATG who share our vision and desire to make our company the best, across not just the UK, but the rest of the world too. The arts – and particularly theatre – are too often overlooked as not making a significant contribution to the wider economy. These awards, and ATG’s fantastic British success story, prove this is not the case. Personally I would like to thank EY for this recognition, my husband and business partner, Howard, for being on this incredible journey with me, Exponent and Providence Equity Partners and everyone at ATG for their unprecedented commitment.’
Squire will go on to represent the UK at the World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monte Carlo in June 2015.
The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year is one of the world’s most prestigious business award and seeks to discover exceptional companies and leaders that display the confidence, quality and aspiration to grow and prosper.
