Nederlands Dans Theater has commissioned a new contemporary dance work inspired by Radiohead. The piece, titled Proof, is part of a triple bill, Side A: Split Into One. It will receive its world premiere on 22 September at Zuiderstrandtheater in Den Haag.
Romanian Edward Clug is the man behind Proof, with the choreographer stating that Radiohead’s music has had a huge impact on his life.
“Radiohead is more than just my favourite band; they are the soundtrack to my other side,” said Clug in an interview with Pitchfork. “Listening to them feels like I’m finding a self that I haven’t met yet.”
Proof features the song Feral taken from the 2011 album The King of Limbs, along with a number of other tracks.
Alongside Clug’s creation are two other world premieres: Sisters (choreographed by Sol León and Paul Lightfoot) and SOON (choreographed by Medhi Walerski).
Side A: Split Into One will tour The Netherlands until 16 December. It will be joined by a second triple bill, Side B: Adrift, which tours from 5 October until 21 December.
