British theatre company Told by an Idiot has been named Creative Associate of London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
As part of the new partnership, RADA students will have the chance to develop their skills with the troupe by working on productions and attending knowledge sharing events.
Told by an Idiot will deliver talks, masterclasses and workshops to RADA students at the school’s Chenies Street studios.
The new relationship is part of the participation initiative, Taught by an Idiot, which has seen the company work with other leading educators in drama training, including the The Actors’ Guild, the Devon Academy of Performing Arts and the Royal Exchange Theatre.
Told by an Idiot’s co-artistic directors, Hayley Carmichael and Paul Hunter, said: ‘We are delighted to extend our Taught by an Idiot strand by formalising our relationship with RADA and look forward to giving its students access to our practice and productions. As the theatre landscape changes, it is important for emerging artists to be aware of the ways in which they can make their own work and we enjoy sharing our experience with this new generation of theatre-makers – and benefitting from what we can learn from them too.’
Told by an Idiot celebrates its 21st anniversary this year. Its upcoming season includes the world premiere of Never Try This at Home (pictured) and a revival of its critically renowned production, My Perfect Mind.
