The most promising voices in the world will gather in Oslo later this month for the prestigious Queen Sonja International Music Competition. Held every two years, this year’s edition will be held from 13 to 23 August. A record number of 304 singers applied for the 2019 competition, from which the screening jury chose 40 contestants from 21 countries to take part.
QSIMC has launched the careers of singers like Elsa Dreisig, Lise Davidsen and Daniel Behle. The final, which takes place on Friday 23 August at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet features the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra conducted by Risto Joost. H.M. Queen Sonja will present the prizes. Chair of the competition jury is Sweden’s Birgitta Svendén.
