PRS for Music has announced a record £274.9 million in royalty distributions, marking its largest-ever final payout and a four per cent increase on the previous year.
More than 51,500 members are set to receive a payment in December 2025, including nearly 400 first-time recipients. The latest figures underline the scale of PRS for Music’s role in supporting music creators across concert performance, broadcast and digital platforms.
International income made a significant contribution to the record total, with £98 million distributed from overseas royalties, reflecting the global reach of PRS-represented repertoire. Streaming and broadcast revenues also remained strong, including £13.5 million from radio airplay, notably across the BBC networks, and £12.8 million from video-on-demand platforms such as Apple, Disney+ and Netflix. A further
£18.1 million was paid out for music used in video games.
Live performance royalties formed a key part of the distribution, with £8.9 million paid to more than 14,000 creators for music performed at concerts and gigs. PRS for Music launched its “Livelihood” campaign earlier this year to highlight the importance of live performance royalties and improve awareness among composers and songwriters.
With a final payment scheduled for 22 December 2025, including £22.2 million from multi-territory online streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube, PRS for Music will have paid royalties to more than 88,000 members during 2025.
