South Korean Pianist Yekwon Sunwoo has announced a tour around Korea to mark the 200th anniversary of Romantic-era pianist and composer Clara Schumann. The programme includes pieces by Schumann and her husband, Robert and Johannes Brahms.
This will be Sunwoo’s first tour in Korea since becoming the first Korean to win the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2017. Sunwoo has also won eight awards including the Sendai International Music Competition, Chamber Award and Interlaken Classic International Music Competition. He has previously performed with Juilliard Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony and Belgium National Orchestra.
Sunwoo will travel to 10 cities, starting with Ulsan on 16 May and then heading on to Jeju Island, Suwon and a performance in the capital city at the Seoul Arts Centre on 1 June.
