Mark Wigglesworth has been announced as Chief Conductor of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Wigglesworth, who was recently appointed as Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor, will begin his initial three-year contract in January 2025. 

Edward Gardner has been named Honorary Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic after ending his nine-year tenure as its
Chief Conductor. Gardner begins his new role as Music Director at
Den Norske Opera and Ballett this August; he has been the Artistic Advisor since 2022.

Daniel Reith has been promoted to Associate Conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra with immediate effect. Reith, who joined the orchestra’s conducting staff at the beginning of the 2022-23 season, also serves as the Music Director of The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO) and has had this contract extended until the end of the 2024-25 season.

The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra has named Keitaro Harada as its new Music and Artistic Director. His five-year tenure begins in July 2025. This year, Harada became Permanent Conductor at the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Partner for the Aichi Chamber Orchestra, and he has been Music and Artistic Director of the Savannah Philharmonic since the 2020-21 season. His 2024-25 season includes a debut with the Adelaide Symphony and a subscription debut with the Cincinnati Symphony, among other things. 

Tabita Berglund has been appointed as Principal Guest Conductor of Dresdner Philharmonie from the 2025-26 season. This follows the recent announcement of her Principal Guest role with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for the 2024-25 season. Chief Conductor Designate Sir Donald Runnicles welcomes her appointment, praising her “fresh, convincing approaches to classical works”.

The Malmö Symphony Orchestra has appointed Martyn Brabbins as its new Chief Conductor. Brabbins, who was Music Director of the English National Opera from 2016 to 2023, begins his three-year contract with the Swedish orchestra at the start of the 2025-26 season. 

Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School has appointed Ruth Reinhardt as its next Music Director. The German conductor, who assumes the role of Music Director Designate until the start of the 2025-26 season, will take over from Principal Conductor Robert Spano who will become the orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor. 

Christoph König has been named as the new Principal Guest Conductor of Warsaw Philharmonic, signing an initial three-year contract. König is currently Chief Conductor of the Spanish Radio Symphony Orchestra (RTVE) and Music and Artistic Director of Solistes Europeens Luxembourg. He will start his debut season alongside the orchestra’s new Music and Artistic Director Krzysztof Urbański.
