Delyana Lazarova has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Lazarova will join the orchestra in September as it begins its 90th anniversary
concert season.
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) has announced a two-year contract extension for Music Director Kazuki Yamada.
This follows last month’s announcement of Catherine Arlidge MBE’s appointment as Director of Artistic Planning, further solidifying CBSO’s leadership team.
Lahav Shani has renewed his contract as Music Director of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), extending his tenure until the end of the 2031-32 season. The Israeli conductor first performed with the orchestra in 2007, making his conducting debut with the IPO in 2013, and succeeded Zubin Mehta as Music Director in 2020.
Malin Broman has been announced as the new Music Director of the Nordic Chamber Orchestra. Broman, who is currently Concertmaster of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of Finland’s Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, will begin her three-year tenure at the start of the 2025-26 season.
Simon Halsey CBE has been appointed Choral Director and Artistic Advisor to the Oslo Philharmonic for the next five years. He will also take on a new role as Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Chorus later this year, after serving as the Chorus Director
since 1982.
James Ehnes has extended his contract with the Seattle Chamber Music Society and remains its Artistic Director until the end of the 2031-32 season.
