Oxford Piano Festival will take place online from 3-7 August 2020. In addition to concerts, the festival offers free webinars, clinics, and archive masterclasses. Organised by Oxford Philharmonic, it was originally due to run from 1-9 August before COVID-19 hit.
Names that jump out of the programme include Ignas Maknickas, who gives a recital of Bach and Chopin on 3 August; Julius Asal, who offers a rendition of Bartók’s Suite, Op 14 on 6 August; and Nuron Mukumi, who performs a selection from Tchaikovsky’s 18 Pieces for Piano, Op 72 on 7 August.
Aspiring pianists can benefit from masterclasses with artistic director Marios Papadopoulos as well as Martin James Bartlett, Adam Heron and Christopher Jessup. Elsewhere, Ian Jones gives a piano clinic on 6 August.
