Wiener Staatsoper will open its new season this year with an Open Door Day on 1 September 2019.
Visitors will have the chance to look behind the scenes and see departments of Vienna State Opera that are usually closed to the public, as well as get a chance to watch rehearsals from the choir, orchestra, ballet dancers and opera school students.
The free event will also showcase a small exhibition of musical archives and previous show costumes. A technical show will also take place, taking audiences behind the stage of lights, acoustics and stage machines.
The 2019-20 season opens on 4 September with Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti. Operas that month include The Tales of Hoffman, Don Carlo, Sylvia, L’elisir d’amore, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Salome and more.
