Nominations are now open for the next Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) Music Awards. The awards recognise the amazing musical achievements of the last 12 months, and are considered a highlight of the UK classical music calendar.
The prize is divided up into 13 categories, with a jury of industry professionals selecting the winners from the public nominations.
‘It’s the brilliant talent of musicians, composers, conductors, young artists, singers, directors, big and small ensembles and those who programme, or communicate to existing and new audiences using words and technology, that make the difference,’ said RPS executive director Rosemary Johnson. ‘We are looking for nominations that reflect the diverse range on offer – from star names to small community events and young, emerging talent.’
Awards are given in the following categories: audience and engagement; chamber music and song; chamber-scale composition; concert series and festivals; conductor; creative communication; ensemble; instrumentalist; large-scale composition; learning and participation; opera and music theatre; singer; and young artists.
Nominations can be made through the RPS Music Awards website until midnight on 16 January 2017. The winners will be announced at the RPS Music Award ceremony on 9 May 2017, held at The Brewery in London.
