Miri Ben-Ari will headline Nobel Peace Laureate Summit

**UPDATE FRIDAY 3 OCTOBER: This year’s World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates has reportedly been cancelled after South Africa refused a visa to the Dalai Lama.

Violinist, producer and humanitarian Miri Ben-Ari will headline a concert at the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.

Taking place in Cape Town on 13 October, this year’s summit will host laureates including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mikhail Gorbachev, President Frederik Willem De Klerk, the Mandela Rhodes Foundation and the Chief Albert Luthuli Foundation.

The Grammy-award winning Ben-Ari will perform alongside members of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the University of the Western Cape’s Creative Arts Choir. She will play her new song Freedom, which was selected as the Official Summit theme song in honor of Nelson Mandela.

She said: ‘It is a great honour to headline the 14th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates and promote its message with my music… Music has the power of bringing people together where otherwise it wouldn’t be possible, it can cross bridges and create a global understanding.’

Born in Israel, Ben-Ari is a classically trained violinist known for blending classical soul and dance music. She is the CEO of Gendenk, a non-profit which promotes tolerance and peace.
