Michel moves to The Mozartists

Sister ensembles Classical Opera and The Mozartists have appointed Bruno Michel as head of artistic administration.

It is somewhat of a surprise to learn that Michel is moving, having held the role of artistic administrator at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris for the last 22 years. He’s also served as director of artistic Planning at the Leipzig Opera and as an artist manager at Lies Askonas (now Askonas Holt).

Remarked artistic director and founder Ian Page: “I’m thrilled to welcome Bruno to our team at such an important stage in our development, and I look forward to developing the company’s work and reach with him over the coming years.”

Added Michel: “Having always had a passion for eighteenth century music, which is at the core of Ian Page’s output, I am hugely enthusiastic about joining his company. I have become a great admirer of his artistry, and also of his creative approach to programming and his craving for discovering rare music.”

Classical Opera is a leading performer of opera on period instruments, while The Mozartists perform concert repertoire (again on period instruments). Led by Ian Page both focus (as the name would suggest) on the work of Mozart and his contemporaries.
