Marin Alsop co-curates new festival

Marin Alsop has co-curated a new festival of new music alongside cellist Inbal Segev. The New Music Festival runs from 13 – 15 July in Baltimore, and is produced by Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO).

“We’re thrilled to kick off a New Music Festival here in Baltimore,” said BSO music director Alsop. “We’ve designed a very innovative programme that reflects the spirit and energy of our community.”

The festival include a chamber concert (13 July), a jam session between BSO players and local music groups (14 July) and a orchestral concert (15 July). Segev will feature as a soloist at the chamber concert, while soprano Agata Zubel performs at both the chamber and the orchestral concert.

Featured composers include Kevin Puts, Gity Razaz, Christopher Rouse and Malek Jandali, as well as three of Zubel’s own compositions.

As well as conducting the chamber and orchestral concerts Alsop will also take part in a roundtable Q&A session on 15 July.
