Opera manager Simon Goldstone has moved from Intermusica to Rayfield Allied, taking twenty singing and off-stage stars with him. His new job title is director: opera, a role he will share with Deborah Sanders as the company looks to expand its opera portfolio. The agency was formed from the merger of Allied Artists Agency and Rayfield Artists in 2011.
‘His ability to identify and nurture the most exciting new talent as well as his proven track record in developing the careers of the very finest artists has made him one of the opera world’s most important managers,’ said Rayfield Allied managing director Ben Rayfield. ‘[He] will add a new dimension to the agency, marking an important new chapter in our growth.’
Conductor Gianluca Marcianò, soprano Venera Gimadieva and tenor Eric Cutler are just three of the artists to make the switch along with Goldstone. Goldstone has previously worked as an artist manager at IMG Artists and Organisation Internationale Artistique.
Explaining the move Goldstone said that, ‘Rayfield’s ethos is very much focused on personal and knowledgeable artist management reflecting my own style perfectly,’ adding, ‘it is currently the most exciting and energetic agency in the UK.’
Existing Rayfield Allied artists include soprano Talise Trevigne, mezzo-soprano Rowan Hellier and tenor Luciano Botelho. Both Goldstone and the twenty artists join with immediate effect.
