Jonathan Mills to chair EFFE jury

The European Festivals Association (EFA) has announced its 2017 Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (EFFE) jury. The jury will select festivals from across the continent that will receive the prestigious EFFE Label.

This year’s jury is chaired by Jonathan Mills, former director of Edinburgh International Festival. Mills will be joined by eight other jurors: Tamar Brüggeman (co-director, Wonderfeel), Peter Florence (director, Hay Festival), Keng Sen Ong (director, Singapore International Festival of Arts), Haris Pašović (director, East West Centre Sarajevo), Pavel Potoroczyn (CEO, University SWPS), Roberto Quaglia (general manager, FOQUS Foundation), Irene Rossi (programmer, Couleur Café Festival), Fruzsina Szép (director, Lollapalooza Berlin).

The EFFE Label is an accreditation scheme designed to highlight Europe’s finest festivals. Running since 2015, each year an international jury selects a number of festivals that meet its high standards. Past EFFE Label recipients include Malta Festival (Poland) and Dance Umbrella (UK).

The EFFE Label jury will meet on 5 April, with the 2017-18 recipients announced on 4 May during the Rheingau Musik Festival.

In addition, the jury will also select the EFFE Award nominees. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in Brussels in September 2017.
