Two of Australia’s best-known actors, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, have launched a new foundation to support arts education.
The Jackman Furness Foundation for the Performing Arts aims to raise AUD10m (€6.7m) over the next four years, with proceeds going towards the WA Academy of Performing Arts and other groups in Australia.

Jackman recently revealed the foundation’s logo via Twitter, along with the message: ‘We hope it’ll make dreams come true!’
WAAPA (where Jackman studied in the early 90s) offers a range of courses to aspiring performing arts professionals, including acting, music theatre, lighting and sound. Notable alumni include actress Frances O’Connor, soprano Rachelle Durkin and comedian, actor and songwriter Tim Minchin.
The first fundraising event for the Jackman Furness Foundation will take place on 17 May at WAAPA.
