Jackie Chan’s Sydney Opera House stunt

Martial artist and movie star Jackie Chan has filmed a sequence for his latest film on top of Sydney Opera House (SOH). Bleeding Steel is described as combining elements of sci-fi, action and comedy, and stars Australian actors Tess Haubrich and Callan Mulvey alongside Chan.

The scene sees 62-year-old Chan – who is famous for performing all of his own stunts – battling co-star Haubrich as they walk along a narrow ridge on the SOH roof.

In Bleeding Steel Chan plays a hardened special-forces agent who fights to protect a young woman from a sinister criminal gang. Although mainly set in Australia the film is financed by Chinese production company Heyi Pictures. It has the largest budget of any Chinese film to be shot in Australia.

Hong Kong native Chan said he ‘loves to work in Australia,’ and added he knows the country so well he is ‘like a tour guide’ for some of the other actors working on the film. Chan previously filmed Mr Nice Guy in Australia in 1996.
