IRCPA’s career development Q&A with Barbara Hannigan to be live streamed

The International Resource Centre for Performing Artists (IRCPA) in Canada is hosting “a live, up close and personal conversation” evening with conductor and soprano Barbara Hannigan, founder of Equilibrium – a European programme for emerging professionals that provides opportunities and guidance to young singers and conductors, as well as the chance to be heard on major stages.

IRCPA’s sessions match young professionals with major international figures in the music industry: so far these have been led by stellar artists such as Sondra Radvanovsky (2016), Brett Polegato (2017) and Adrianne Pieczonka (2018). Theodore Baerg will speak in 2020.

Equilibrium’s first venture in Canada is a collaboration with Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where a quartet of Canadian singers, selected by Hannigan and conductor Andrew Davis, will perform the solo roles Mozart’s Requiem in January 2020.

The IRCPA and Hannigan event will take place on 16 September at Heliconian Hall, Toronto, with award-winning writer and music critic William Littler asking Hannigan about her experiences in the industry and the advice she would give to emerging professionals. The conversation will be live streamed from 4.45pm to 6.15pm EDT at https://www.facebook.com/ircpa.toronto and you can pose questions to Hannigan in advance via email at barbara@ircpa.net.

Hannigan will sing and conduct at the TSO season opening concerts on 19 and 21 September at Roy Thomson Hall.
