Kronberg Academy will welcome more than 170 cellists to Germany this September. The biannual academy offers students the chance to learn from, and play with, international-class musicians.
Participants will benefit from masterclasses, talks and the chance to perform for a large audience. This year’s tutors are Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.
“In the year of our 25th jubilee, enabling this cross-border, creative exchange between artists from across the globe is something that remains a key goal and motivating force,” said Kronberg Academy founder and president Raimund Trenkler.
Kronberg Academy’s concert programme includes a performance from cellists Jens Peter Maintz, Chiara Enderle and Andrei Ioniță with a programme of Haydn, Penderecki, François Couperin and Beethoven (23 September); a concert featuring Ella von Poucke and Gary Hoffman, accompanied by David Selig (25 September); and a set from music and comedy duo Carrington-Brown (27 September).
The Grand Finale concert on 30 September will feature selected students, with scholarships awarded to those who have excelled during the academy.
Kronberg Academy runs from 23-30 September. A full line-up of events can be found online.
