Harry Potter And The Cursed Child picks up nine Olivier Awards

Sonia Friedman Productions (SFP) has won 11 Olivier Awards, with nine of them for Harry Potter And The Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre.

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child won in the following categories: Best Director (John Tiffany), Best Actor (Jamie Parker), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Noma Dumezweni), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Anthony Boyle), Virgin Atlantic Best New Play, White Light Award for Best Lighting Design (Neil Austin), Best Sound Design (Gareth Fry), Best Costume Design (Katrina Lindsay), and the Blue-i Theatre Technology Award for Best Set Design (Christine Jones).

SFP picked up two further prizes for Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre: Best Actress in a Musical (Amber Riley) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical (Adam J Bernard).

The next project from SFP is Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour, which is transferring to the West End after a UK tour and stints at both the National Theatre and Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Previews begin on 9 May.

The Olivier Awards 2017 were held at The Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday 9 April.
