HarrisonParrott has signed flautist Claire Chase – a soloist, collaborative artist, curator and advocate for new and experimental music – for exclusive management in Europe and Asia.
Chase was the artist in residence at Aldeburgh Festival this year, where she played on 9, 14 and 16 June. She returns to the UK in August for the BBC Proms with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, performing Olga Neuwirth’s Aello on 5 August.
Over the past decade Chase has given the world premieres of hundreds of new works for the flute and was awarded the Avery Fisher Prize in 2017. Examples of her projects include Density 2036, a 23-year effort to create an entirely new body of repertory for flute. Begun in 2014, it runs until 2036.
Chase is currently a professor in the Department of Music at Harvard University. She is also the co-artistic director of the summer music programme at The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada and founder of the International Contemporary Ensemble, which has premiered more than 800 works since its inception.
