Hallé Orchestra reveal pops playlist

Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra has released the set list for its upcoming family-friendly pops concert in the picturesque grounds of Tatton Park. On 30 August the orchestra will perform West End and Hollywood works to a crowd of several thousand.

The set includes All That Jazz from Chicago, James Bond song You Only Live Twice, kids’ favourites Hushaby Mountain from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Pure Imagination from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as some of John Williams’ most well-loved cinema scores – accompanied, of course, by fireworks.

Wicked star Ashleigh Gray joins the orchestra as a guest vocalist, along with solo bass vocalist Rodney Earl Clarke. The two will perform a duet of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

‘An evening of song, scenery and even a firework or two – I for one, am very excited to be part of it,’ commented Gray, while Clarke described the night as ‘truly one helluva golden ticket.’

Hallé Pops associate conductor Stephen Bell will lead the orchestra, with the concert promoted by Cuffe and Taylor.

“It is a huge privilege to work with the Hallé,’ said Cuffe and Taylor director Peter Taylor. ‘Their musical skill is unequalled and the fireworks finale will complete the experience, making it is a truly magical evening for everyone.’
