Gothenburg Symphony will help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the World Childhood Foundation with a gala night in support for the charity’s work.
Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra at the concert hall in Sweden on 11 September 2019, with mezzo soprano Katarina Karnèus as soloist. Swedish singer, Maria Möller, will host the evening. Dudamel was appointed principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in 2006 and later became honorary conductor in 2014.
The gala will also feature performances by Västra Götaland’s Youth Orchestra and the fugitive formed Dream Orchestra.
The World Childhood Foundation works to prevent violence and sexual abuse of children and supports local projects both in Sweden and abroad. Her Majesty Queen Silva founded the Foundation in 1999 with over 1,000 projects completed since it was established. The charity aims to help children live a safe and loving childhood, free from violence and exploitation.
