Aiden Oliver has been announced as chorus master at Glyndebourne, where he has been acting chorus master for the past month.
Oliver is founding director of Philharmonia Voices since 2004, a professional choir that works with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Solonen. In 2018 he became the director of the Edinburgh Festival Chorus performing in Edinburgh International Festival, which he will continue alongside his new role.
Stephen Langridge, artistic director at Glyndebourne, said: “The Glyndebourne Chorus enjoys an international reputation for excellence and Aidan’s pedigree and experience as a chorus director makes him the ideal person to guide the ensemble in the future.”
Oliver has regularly worked with the music staff at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera. He was also appointed director of music at St Margaret’s Church in Westminster in 2003, and was made associate conductor for St Endellion Festival in 2004.
