Violinist Esther Yoo is set to return in 2020 to the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra, as well as make her debut with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
This month she was named as one of WQXR’s ’20 for 20’ Artists to Watch for the Upcoming Year, and she was also recently listed as one of Classic FM’s Top 30 Artists under 30. Described as ‘a star in the making’ by The Daily Telegraph, Ms Yoo was the first ever artist-in-residence with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018.
She will perform Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Carlos Miguel Prieto at St David’s Hall in Cardiff (9 February 2020), and will join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Thierry Fischer on 10 & 12 March to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto at London’s Royal Festival Hall and Hull’s City Hall.
She will return to the Royal Festival Hall on May 14 to collaborate once again with the Philharmonia Orchestra performing Barber’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Joana Carneiro, and they will also perform together in Cambridge and Canterbury (May 7 & 8).
Making her debut with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Vasily Petrenko on June 14, Ms Yoo will perform Glazunov’s Violin Concerto, which she recorded in 2016 with the Philharmonia.
