English National Ballet (ENB) is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a packed programme of choreographers, artists and musicians at a one-off event.
Taking place from 17-18 January 2020, the full repertoire is yet to be announced. Details released so far reveal that the first half of the programme will present iconic ENB works, including classics of the Ballet Russes combined with modern productions, archive ENB footage will be reimagined live on stage while extracts from distinguished ballet choreographers such as Petit, Balanchine and MacMillan will provide a montage review of ENB’s history.
The evening will conclude with a performance of talent throughout ENB with Harald Lander’s Études. The one-act ballet was first performed by the company in 1955 and pays homage to classical ballet training, beginning with traditional ballet exercises and steps such as the barre, tendus and ronds de jambe and ending with bravura displays.
