The 2025 Bach Competition Leipzig took place on Bach’s 340th birthday, with Jan Čmejla winning First Prize. Second Prize was awarded to Marek Kozák and Mariamana Sherling was third.
Yuya Nishimoto has won France’s 2025 Epinal International Piano Competition; he also received the Contemporary Music Prize. Second Prize was awarded to Aidan Mikdad and Mathis Cathignol
was third.
Yuki Hirano has won the 7th International Jascha Heifetz Competition for Violinists after her performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra; she was also awarded a special prize for the best performance of a Jascha Heifetz’s transcription. Jinzhu Li was second and Chaeyeon Lee and Shaoheng Zhong were awarded joint-third.
The Motus Quartet has won First Prize at the 10th International Joseph Joachim Competition for Chamber Music and also the Special Prize for the best interpretation of an early classical work. Second Prize went to the Malion Quartet, with Third Prize awarded to the Davidoff Trio.
Pianist Maximilian Kromer was awarded First Prize at the International Schubert Competition Dortmund. Geunpyo Park was second, also winning the audience award, and Fanyu Zeng was third.
Saehyun Kim has won the Long-Thibaud International Competition for pianists, with his outstanding interpretation of Rachmaninov’s Concerto No. 3. Third Prize was awarded to Hyo Lee; no Second Prize was awarded.
Curtis Phill Hsu has won the 2025 Maria Canals International Music Competition for pianists. Nejc Kamplet was second and Pin-Hong Lin was awarded Third Prize.
Opus13 has won First Prize at the 2025 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, plus the Bram Eldering 19th Century Prize, the Haydn and Mozart prizes, the Esterházy Foundation Prize, and the Leeds International Concert Season Prize. Second Prize was awarded to the Terra String Quartet, who also won the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme Prize. Third Prize was awarded to Quartet Integra, who also won the Sidney Griller Award.
