Classical:NEXT has released its concert programme for 2018. Running from 16-19 May in Rotterdam, it will bring together more than 1,200 music professionals for showcases, seminars and workshops.
The performance programme is split between three strands: showcases, club showcases and club DJs. Brouwer Trio (Spain), Cuarteto Q-Arte (Columbia) and Kirill Richter (Russia) are among the showcase events, while Abraham Brody and Sebastian Vinther (America/Lithuania) will appear in the club showcase.
Commented Brody: “I am very excited to perform at Classical:NEXT 2018. It is the only event of its kind and I look forward to sharing my work and roots there, as well meeting many other presenters and artists.”
As for the late night DJ slots, those are taken up by Harriet Moss (UK), Eleanor Ward (UK), Mr Van Walsh (the Netherlands) and Gabriel Prokofiev (UK). The opening concert will be curated by Le Bureau Export (France).
Further, Classical:NEXT has revealed early details of its conference sessions. Addressing topics like ‘crossing the pond’, ‘classical music for young audiences’ and ‘assholes (and how to avoid them)’, confirmed speakers include stage director Caecilia Thunnissen, conductor André de Ridder and entrepreneur Josep Molina.
Classical:NEXT has reported that registrations are up 20% on the previous year.
