Classical:NEXT on the look out for ‘wow’ moments

Classical:NEXT has put out a call for proposals for its next global gathering. All suggestions for ‘artists, project pitches and conference sessions’ can now be submitted for free through the Classical:NEXT website. The conference runs from 17-20 May 2017 in Rotterdam.

‘As awareness of and participation in Classical:NEXT grows, we expect the already outstanding quality as well as substantial quantity of proposals to increase,’ commented Classical:NEXT director Jennifer Dautermann. ‘Our jury have their hands full each year – we hope those hands will be filled to overflowing when this year’s call for proposals phase closes.’

Proposals can be made in four categories: showcases, night-time club showcases, conference sessions and project pitches. The submissions are then whittled down by a jury, with the final selections announced in the months leading up to the conference. The 2017 jury has yet to be announced.

The 2016 programme included an advice session for getting the most from social media, a discussion around the challenges and opportunities created by streaming services, and a Q&A with Naxos founder Klaus Heymann.

Continued Dautermann: ‘We are looking for the outstandingly innovative, the bearers of ‘wow!’ moments, the eye-openers and the horizon-broadeners. We seek the best and brightest on the trail of innovation and excellence.’

Classical:NEXT will be hosted by de Doelen for the third year in a row, with de Doelen programme director Michael Nieuwenhuizen describing it as ‘the perfect means for art and ideas to spread throughout the global community of professionals.’

The deadline for submitting a proposal is 30 September.
