UK radio station Classic FM has formed a new partnership with acclaimed ballet company Opera North.
Opera North is a South Bank-award winning company based in Leeds, while Classic FM is the UK’s most popular classical music station.
The partnership means that Classic FM listeners will have behind the scenes access to Opera North on the Classic FM website, and will receive exclusive ticket discounts to Opera North productions.
Opera North is unique in the UK as it is the only opera company that has a full year-round symphonic concert season, as well as performing classic pieces such as the upcoming Der Rosenkavalier and Hansel and Gretel.
Sam Jackson, Classic FM’s managing director, said he looked forward to ‘sharing the Opera North story’, both on the radio and online, as ‘so much of the great classical music comes from the opera house’, while Richard Mantle, director of Opera North, added that he was looking forward to ‘bringing classical music into millions of people’s everyday lives.’
