The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) has announced the 12 individual artists and one ensemble selected for the 2027–30 Bowers Program, a three-season residency in which participants perform, tour and teach alongside CMS artists.
Selected from an international pool of 192 individual candidates and 17 ensemble candidates, the new cohort hails from six countries and regions and ranges in age from 24 to 32. The artists are pianists Charles Berofsky (USA) and Chelsea Wang (USA); violinists Joshua Brown (USA), Tianyou Ma (China), Clara Neubauer (USA) and Oliver Neubauer (USA); violist Brian Isaacs (USA); cellists James Baik (USA) and Haddon Kay (USA); double bassist Will Duerden (UK); clarinetist Han Kim (Korea); percussionist Jessie Meng-Chieh Chiang (Taiwan); and the Callisto Quartet – Eric Tsai (Taiwan-USA), Gregory Lewis (Canada), Eva Kennedy (Canada-USA) and Hannah Moses (USA).
Bowers Program artists are integrated into every facet of CMS activities for their three-season term, performing on CMS’s New York stages as well as in cities across the US and abroad alongside established CMS artists, and appearing as part of CMS education and community engagement programmes.
CMS Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han said: “We could not be more excited to welcome this extraordinary group of Bowers Program artists into the CMS family. In keeping with our criteria for selection, each brings something unique and magical in their musicianship and personality… They come from far and wide, and also from right here at home, contributing to the musical melting pot that is so essential to CMS. Our listeners can look forward to making friends with 16 of the world’s most gifted musicians.”
