A new partnership between Carnegie Hall and medici.tv will see concerts webcast live from the historic venue for the first time, showcasing some of the world’s leading artists.
Audiences will be able to watch performances online for free, with a series of four webcasts from the New York hall beginning this month.
The first concert, on 4 November, was a recital by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and pianist David Zobel, performing a programme of Venetian-themed songs and arias from the Baroque period to the 20th century.
On 18 November audiences will be able to watch violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter (pictured) leading The Mutter Virtuosi, in a programme that includes the US premiere of André Previn’s Violin Concerto No 2 and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Violinist Leonidas Kavakos and pianist Yuja Wang take to the stage on 22 November, performing works by Schumann, Brahms, Respighi and Stravinsky.
The series concludes on 9 December with the young Russian piano virtuoso Daniil Trifonov playing works by Bach, Beethoven and Liszt.
Carnegie Hall’s executive and artistic director Clive Gillinson said: ‘Throughout its history, Carnegie Hall has been a place that has connected leading artists with passionate audiences seeking the very best in music.
