C3 – the indie-classical music festival – will tour across Europe in 2017 as part of the C3 Roadshow. The project sees classical concerts embedded within local music festivals in the Netherlands, Estonia and Sweden.
In addition to the concerts, the C3 team will also engage in pop-up house concerts, professionals’ workshops and networking meetings. The idea behind the project is to promote the concept of indie-classical, where classical music is incorporated into the indie and electronic music scenes.
“The artistic attitude of serious electronic producers and classical musicians of today is not that different,” said C3 artistic co-director Fabian Lasarzik. “In their collaborations for C3 we have just let them do their thing, which is to dig for the core of music … and if I can dance along to it, even better!”
Added C3 founder and artistic co-director Jennifer Dautermann: “This genre mash-up represents one of the paths forward for the future of music growing from the seeds of classical. It is a path which holds great potential for both reaching today’s audiences and for economic success … think of the large audiences attracted to Nils Frahm.”
The project already took part in the Cross-linx festival (the Netherlands), and will appear at Tallinn Music Week from 27 March – 2 April. It will then head to Sweden from 9 – 11 November for Sound of Stockholm.
