Australian Performing Arts Market heads west for next three editions
Creative Australia has announced that the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) will be held in Western Australia for the next three editions, marking the first time the event will be hosted in the state.
Supported by the Western Australian Government, PAC Australia has been appointed to deliver APAM under a six-year contract from 2025 to 2030. PAC Australia is the national peak body for performing arts centres, presenters and producers across the country.
APAM, which is a biennial event connecting contemporary Australian theatre, dance, emerging and experimental art with national and international opportunities, will take place in Perth in 2026, 2028 and 2030. The Department of Local Government, Sport and Creative Industries (DLGSC) will match Creative Australia’s commitment through a multi-year strategic investment.
In a statement, Creative Australia CEO Adrian Collette AM emphasised APAM’s significance within the Australian performing arts community, stating that it provides a platform for artists to connect with colleagues, engage in conversations about artistic practice, build awareness of their work, and find opportunities to buy, sell, exchange and collaborate.
Western Australia Minister for Culture and the Arts David Templeman expressed his excitement and pride in hosting APAM, highlighting the opportunity to showcase the state’s artistic offerings, unique cultural identity, and available infrastructure to national and international producers.
APAM was established by the Australia Council for the Arts (now Creative Australia) in 1994. Since its inception, APAM has grown from 200 participants to a thriving international marketplace with more than 1,200 participants from around the world.
