The fourth annual Get Creative Family Arts Festival has announced the highlights of its 2016 line-up.
The festival, supported by the BBC’s Get Creative scheme and Arts Council England, takes place from 1 – 31 October, and showcases family-friendly events across the UK from over 800 organisations, including the Southwark Playhouse, HOME Manchester and the London Philarmonic Orchestra. Events are taking place in major cities such as London, Birmingham and Manchester, with many more events up and down the country.
This year there will be a variety of arts, theatrical and musical events taking place. with the Family Standards badge indicating what the event’s about, and whether it is suitable for all the family.
The wide range of events includes a series of sculptures across Brighton and Hove commemorating Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman and the Snowdog, an all-star production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang featuring comedians Jason Manford and Phill Jupitus, Shakespeare plays such as Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet adapted for young audiences, as well as the UK’s first all-black production of Hamlet.
There will also be theatre adaptations of renowned children’s author Michael Morpurgo’s beloved books War Horse, Why the Whales Came and The Amazing Story of Adolphus TIps.
