Applications open to showcase at APAM

Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) have put out a call to artists and arts organisations from Australia and New Zealand to take part in their 2016 conference.

The biennial conference provides showcasing opportunities for tour-ready productions as well as a pitching strand for works in development in the genres of dance, theatre, physical theatre and music.

Founded in 1994, APAM was established by the Australia Council for the Arts with the aim of creating greater national and international touring opportunities for Australian contemporary performers.

The 2014 programme featured 37 production showcases and 15 work in development pitches. Highlights included Shaun Parker & Company, Terrapin Puppet Theatre and ILBIJERRI Theatre Company.

APAM 2016 coincides with WTF: A Festival of Contemporary Performance, which aims to challenge the conventions of traditional reason. It was this innovative festival that led to APAM awarding Brisbane the contract for three APAM biennial conferences from 2014 to 2018 inclusive.

Brisbane Powerhouse is the venue for the conference, with the next edition running 22-26 February 2016. The closing date for submissions is 1 July 2015.
